Q + A

Will I have fun if I decide to come?

Obviously, yes. Don’t be a soggy pancake. Next question.

Are kids invited?

Unfortunately this is an adult-only event. As much as we’d love hosting your entire family, please book a nanny or call up granny for the weekend so you can come celebrate responsibly.

What should I wear?

Austin is a funky town. You can dress down or up as much as you like when you’re here. Our aesthetic for the wedding is going to be along the lines of formal, trendy, and modern (Dan will be wearing a black tux). But if that’s not your thing, we just want you to be comfortable. There is a high chance [unnamed] men will end up shirtless on the dance floor (sorry grandma). Everything will be inside in the air-conditioning.

Can you keep me in the loop with fun events?

Yes! We will let all of our guests know our weekend schedule so you can catch up with us before, during, and after the big day.

Do I have to try breakfast tacos?

Dumb question: yes, mandatory for the weekend. It wouldn’t be an Austin trip if you didn’t.

Will I be encouraged to let loose like a goose on the dance floor?

Again…obviously yes. Becky (mother of the bride) will be leading the Wobble at some point. And surely, Aunt Cindy (Alison’s aunt and Becky’s sister) will lead the crowd with some air-guitar. Please be sure to properly stretch before embarking on your dance journey. Our lawyer has informed us to note we are not liable for dance floor injuries sustained on the night of August 31, 2024.

Should I rent a car?

You don’t need to! This is one of the reasons we chose Austin and our venue. Be responsible, use ride shares (Uber or Lyft). The city of Austin is a 15 minute drive to the airport (AUS-Austin Bergstrom International Airport). Rides to and from the airport are anywhere from $15-50 (depending on timing). Taxi cabs are also in the same pickup spot. Turo is another option too!

What airport do I fly into?

AUS- Austin Bergstrom International Airport (15 minutes away from downtown with little traffic). SAT-San Antonio International Airport (1.5 hours from Austin). I personally wouldn’t recommend it since you’d have to drive on Interstate 35, Texas’ most congested strip of highway up to Austin (unless you legit are flying first class for free, but still even prob wouldn’t do it). Dallas and Houston: Texas is too big and it’s legit far. I know the flights are cheaper, but that’s adding like 4+ hours to your journey. Bobby, I’m looking at you…don’t book another flight to Houston. :)

What’s the vibe of the Fairmont?

The Austin Fairmont is one of Austin’s luxury hotels and has a Vegas-vibe. It is home to Austin’s largest rooftop pool and Labor Day weekend will definitely be rocking (they hire a DJ for their pool deck and you can also rent a cabana). They have a restaurant hall (different cuisines), coffee shop, and bar all inside! Also right across the street from the lively Rainey Street district. If you decide to stay here, you honestly wouldn’t have to leave the property all weekend if you didn’t want to.
